We had decided some time ago that this spring, we want to do a thorough cleaning of our intestines. Ayurveda recommends to clean your intestines on a regular basis, and spring seems like the optimum moment for it. Apparently, we accumulate undigested food in our intestines. I try not to think of that too much, since I tend to think in pictures.
Fasting
Fortunately, it is possible to clear your intestines by fasting and taking some special products that help flush the garbage out, so to speak. We found a website (in German) where they give a detailed description of how to proceed with such a fast. Christophe has done something similar a few years ago, and we’re doing a combination now. So from tomorrow on, we will be fasting for ten days, drinking only boiled water (with fresh ginger in the morning), rice water and a very light vegetable broth.

To aid in the process, we’ll be taking
- probiotics to help our intestines grow a favourable mix of bacteria;
- spirulina to bind poisons, especially heavy metals, so they can be eliminated from the body without harm;
- pulverised barley grass, to aid in building a healthy intestinal flora;
- livocin liquid, to help regulate the metabolism by activating the liver;
- pulverised bentonite and psyllium, who work together to eliminate deposits, toxins and harmful bacteria that have accumulated in the intestine;
- magnesium sulphate dissolved in water to make sure everything leaves the body…
We will be timing the taking of magnesium sulphate to be out of phase with each other, since the apartment has only one toilet. Normally, we have no problem with that. But magnesium sulphate tends to make the need for a toilet visit rather urgent (to put it mildly), so we’ll be taking that with a couple of hours interval. I’ll let Christophe have the honour of going first 🙂
Decluttering
Speaking of our apartment, we have terminated the rent of it as of the first of May. That means that from that day on, we will officially be nomads without a fixed place of residence. It also means that we have to get rid of a lot of stuff, because we’re going to store our stuff with family, and we don’t want to store anything that we don’t really want to hold on to.
Today I put up 8 ads on E-bay to sell stuff that has some value, and I am going to continue with that in days to come. But we’re not going to be able to sell everything we no longer need, because anything under € 20 isn’t worth the bother of taking pictures and writing the ad. So there’s also quite a lot that we are just going to give away. Either to friends and family if it will make them happy, or to a second hand shop nearby.
Contrary to what you might expect, decluttering doesn’t upset me at all. On the contrary, I am enjoying getting rid of as much stuff as possible. That is not to say that I don’t keep anything, because I am hanging on to quite some stuff. I am very curious to find out with how many cubic metres I will end up at the end of April. Time will tell!
